Apart from being a clinical paediatric cardiologist, have developed particular expertise and interest in interventional paediatric cardiology as well as adults with congenital heart disease.
Been a visiting professor to many units around the world, where have taught interventional techniques to many doctors and teams.
Invited to many international scientific conferences around the world and given countless lectures in particular on interventional techniques and the latest developments.
Given named lectures (Edgar Mannheimer lectures in Poland and Ethiopia) and Charles Mullins lecture in USA.
Co-inventor of Tyshak balloon.
Chairman of the Medical Board of Chain of Hope (a UK charity)
Co-Director of CSI annual conferences around the world.
In 2004, I have received from the President of Pakistan one of the highest civilian awards (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) from the Government of Pakistan for helping to develop Paediatric Cardiology in Pakistan.
In 2004, received Outstanding Achievements in Interventional Paediatric Cardiology Award from the Annual PICS meeting held in Chicago.
In 2022, awarded knighthood in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.
