José Fragata

Professor José Fragata did his medical education in Portugal and the United Kingdom. He received his PhD degree in 1991 and Aggregation degree in surgery in 1993 from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
He is full professor of surgery at Nova Medical School, having chaired the Ethical Council of Universidade NOVA where he was Vice-Rector responsible for Health over the last 5 years.
He coordinates the postgraduate program in Health Management at Business School (INDEG-ISCTE) and was founder and president of the Academic Council of AHED (Postgraduate School in Health at Universidade NOVA).
Professor Fragata is member of the Academy of Medicine and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences.
Professor Fragata is a cardiothoracic surgeon with a vast experience in cardiac surgery, for adults and congenital heart lesions and in thoracic transplantation, having pursued a long national and international career in this specialty, cumulatively with a well diversified academic career.
