Jan Marek

Professor Jan Marek is a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in paediatric and prenatal cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. He has been working at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) since 2005 after a previous 20-year professional career at University Hospital Motol, Prague, Czech Republic. Professor Marek is currently a Lead Consultant of Echocardiography and Professor of Cardiology at the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at University College London (UCL) and Charles University, Prague.
Among others, Jan served as a Chair of the Paediatric Cardiology working group of the Czech Society of Cardiology, a member of the Council of the Fetal Working Group of the Association of European Paediatric Cardiology (AEPC), and as a Chair of the Imaging Working Group of the AEPC. He is also a co-organizer of European educational programs including European accreditation in Echocardiography in Congenital Heart Disease under the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) / European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
