Ingrid Van Beynum

Ingrid van Beynum followed her medical studies at the Radboud University Nijmegen. Between 2000-2009 she trained in Paediatrics followed by training in Paediatric Cardiology at the Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen. In 2011 she defended her PhD thesis ‘Folate and congenital heart defects, the effects of periconceptional folic acid supplementation’. Since September 2010 she has been working as a consultant at the Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Sophia Children’s Hospital, Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam. She is subspecialized in prenatal cardiology and paediatric interventional cardiology. She is actively involved in peri-operative care and long-term outcome in children with congenital heart defects. She supports a life-cycle program focussing on the best care and quality of life in patient with congenital heart disease from foetal to adulthood. Her research is related to these topics covering foetal cardiology, surgical and interventional outcome, quality of life and neuropsychological and motoric development.
