Hannes Sallmon

Hannes Sallmon currently is a consultant in pediatric cardiology at the German Heart Institute Berlin (DHZB) and a senior lecturer at Charité Medical School, Berlin, Germany. After graduating from medical school (University of Rostock, Germany), he worked as a physician-scientist at the Departments of Neonatology and Pediatric Cardiology, Charité University Medical Center Berlin. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA, and a Visiting Clinical Fellow at the National Center for Child Health and Development, Tokyo, Japan. His research focuses on pediatric vascular medicine, specifically on pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, and platelet biology. He received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Boehringer-Ingelheim Foundation and scientific awards from the German Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine (NDGKJ), the German Society of Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine (GNPI), and the Association for European Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEPC). He also serves as a leadership board member of the European Pulmonary Vascular Disease Network (EPPVDN) and is a Councillor of the AEPC Working Group "Pulmonary Hypertension, Heart Failure, and Transplantation".
