Bart Meyns graduated in 1994 as a cardiac surgeon at the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences on Ventricular Support with Miniature Rotary Blood Pumps in 1997 and his masters degree in health care and hospital management in 2002. After finishing his residency in cardiac surgery, Bart completed his training focused on congenital pathology, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, mechanical support and cardiac transplantation. Currently, he is Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the UZLeuven University Hospital and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Catholic University Leuven. His areas of interest are congenital heart surgery, heart failure and mechanical support.
